Overview
HDS In-System Data Replication encompasses ShadowImage (full-volume internal copy) and Copy-on-Write Snapshot (space-efficient point-in-time copy) capabilities within the Hitachi VSP array. These features allow instant backup copies and test/dev clones to be created from production data without impacting production performance or requiring additional host-based software.
STME uses HDS in-system replication as part of comprehensive data protection architectures for banking and government clients. ShadowImage copies integrate with Veritas NetBackup for offload backups, eliminating the backup window from production systems.
