Overview
Hitachi Tiered Storage Manager (HTSM) automates the movement of data between storage tiers — SSD, SAS, and SATA — based on access frequency and I/O patterns. Hot data moves to fast flash tiers; cold data migrates to cost-effective spinning disk or nearline tiers — all without application interruption.
STME uses HTSM to reduce storage costs for GCC clients with large, mixed-workload environments. By automatically placing frequently accessed data on flash and infrequently accessed data on lower-cost tiers, clients typically achieve 30–40% reduction in effective storage cost without manual data movement.
