STME launches next-generation cloud solution to support enterprises’ data exchange and GDPR compliance needs

STME Secure Drive provides unprecedented levels of user data security and manageability.

As toughening data protection regulations and ever-growing cybersecurity threats place increased pressure on businesses to get their data security act together, STME, the Middle East’s leading IT solutions provider and systems integrator, has launched a next-generation enterprise cloud solution that enables organizations to safely and securely exchange sensitive data online and meet the most stringent data security and privacy compliance requirements.

Introduced in collaboration with global technology leaders NetApp and Palo Alto Networks, the STME Secure Drive is an Enterprise File Sync and Share (EFSS) solution that provides unprecedented levels of user data security and can be used either on-premise or in the cloud, depending on customer requirements.

Designed to facilitate closer employee cooperation and secure company-wide conversations, STME Secure Drive allows enterprises to centrally manage users and roles, enabling the exchange, control and management of information across any number of data rooms with multiple levels of user permissions.

Ayman Al Bayaa, CEO, STME, said, “Unsecured communications poses the biggest security threat to organizations. Besides offering inadequate levels of data protection, many of the existing solutions use technologies that are complicated and difficult to use, often leading to shadow IT, which is a leading cause of insider data threats across all organizations.”

“STME Secure Drive offers a one-stop solution to all these problems, facilitating an easy and secure exchange of data not only within the organization but also with partners. It provides a centralized data exchange platform unlike any other currently on the market, enabling fast and efficient transmission of big data files that are encrypted on the client side to ensure maximum security, thus effectively creating the foundation of trust that your employees and partners need to exchange confidential information,” Al Bayaa added.

Cyber attacks are increasing both in number and sophistication, in the Middle East as well as globally, making it even more critical for organizations to take adequate measures to protect their data and keep business communications secure. According to the 2017 Norton Cyber Security Insights Report, hackers stole AED 3.86 billion from 3.72 million consumers in the UAE over the past year. More than half of the survey respondents reported having experienced cybercrime.

The launch of STME Secure Drive also assumes significance in the context of Europe’s new privacy law that came into effect in May 2018. Known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the EU-wide framework requires companies to comply with a strict set of regulations on how they manage data of their customers.

Crucially, however, the new regulation applies to not just European companies but any organization holding data on a European citizen. This means that hundreds of Middle Eastern businesses that operate internationally and have customers based in the EU region are required to comply with the new data protection rules, failing which they stand to face fines of up to €20 million. Hence, it has become paramount for these organizations to ensure that their networking and communication solutions meet the highest standards of data protection and privacy, sparking renewed demand for secure, next-generation data exchange solutions. STME Secure Drive seeks to answer this demand for advanced EFSS solutions that meet customers’ needs for security, mobility and collaboration.

“With security emerging as the foremost challenge for enterprises, many organizations find themselves having to invest a considerable amount of time and resources in keeping sensitive information secure and protecting against data breaches, often unsuccessfully and often by diverting attention away from their primary business priorities. By providing a centralized and highly secure cloud solution that enables a seamless exchange of data across the enterprise, STME Secure Drive seeks to empower businesses with greater security, control and peace of mind so they can focus on their core business,” Al Bayaa said.

STME Secure Drive uses the most advanced API functionality to facilitate full integration with your existing systems, applications and software. It also offers unrestricted, platform-independent access to web browsers and mobile apps and even lends itself to individual branding, enabling seamless integration into your corporate design which, in turn, helps inspire trust among your customers by creating a familiar appearance.

STME Offers Veritas and NetApp Archival Solution

IT solutions provider and systems integrator STME, has launched an integrated solution from Veritas and NetApp that leverages an archiving and storage technology.

The bundle, based on Veritas Enterprise Vault in conjunction with NetApp FAS storage arrays, integrates solutions from both vendors to provide clients with a comprehensive archival solution.

According to STME, the combined Veritas and NetApp bundle is a fully tailor-made archiving solution for customers from any vertical. The solution works as a drop-in system for existing IT environments, as well as new deployments. By bundling archiving licences and physical storage together, the bundle helps reduce overall information management costs.

“Archiving is the ideal tool for protecting, organizing and searching data, helping to meet compliance and eDiscovery requirements. The combined Veritas and NetApp solution complements an organisation’s existing backup implementation. Archives are for discovery, while backups are for recovery” said Ayman Al Bayaa, CEO of STME.

Mr. Al Bayaa added that archiving solutions improve many areas of data protection and IT operations. He said for example, by archiving “stale” data from primary applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint or Windows-based file servers, the storage footprint of these applications can be reduced, improving both backup and recovery performance. “In addition, by using archiving, and not backup, for long-term information retention, organisations can optimize data protection strategies – for example, transitioning from keeping backups forever to shorter retention tailored to meet recovery point and time objectives.”
